Abstract

The current study investigated how an expectation violation affects the subsequent control settings for processing of information by employing a double-surprise-trial paradigm based on the attribute amnesia task. The results revealed that once participants’ expectation was violated, they would switch to a nonselective strategy to retain behavioral flexibility.
