Changing the Future: An Initial Test of Future Specificity Training (FeST)

Abstract
First study to increase future thinking specificity. Sixty participants were randomized to Future Specificity Training or wait-list. Large improvements in specificity, detail, mental imagery, anticipated/anticipatory pleasure, perceived control, and likelihood, and effects on generalized future self-states. Provides evidence specificity can be enhanced and indicates an avenue to disrupt psychopathology.
