Arousal Erases Age Differences in Children's Autobiographical Recall of Negative Events

Abstract
137 participants recalled their earliest positive and negative memories. Highly arousing, negative memories were found to result in better event memory with no age effect. Children older than 3 remembered more positive event details. These findings suggest arousal and age play a significant role in event memory.
