The Self (vs. other)-Bias in Redundancy Gain Is Associated with Self-Reported Perspective Taking but Not with Empathic Concern

Abstract
Using a redundancy gain paradigm, we showed that the more redundancy gain participants showed for self-associated (vs. other-associated) stimuli, the less perspective-taking they reported. However, this perceptual bias was not associated with self-reported empathic concern, suggesting that such self-bias might relate to cognitive but less to emotional interpersonal behavior.
