Gaze Fixation during Rapid Automatized Naming (RAN) Tasks Uniquely Predicts Reading Fluency: An SEM Approach to Eye Tracking Data

Abstract
Naming tasks share limited outward appearance with reading; however, considerable evidence indicates that RAN tasks are highly predictive of reading performance. Eye tracking recordings of gaze fixation (but not saccades) accounted for roughly 50% of the variance in reading fluency. Naming and reading likely share information processing mechanisms.
