Abstract

The study examined changes in executive functioning related to parental deprivation in institutionalised and foster care children in Nigeria. Deprived children showed general poor cognitive processing speed compared to non-deprived. Conversely, the deprived group was significantly better in working memory. We found no difference between the groups in set-shifting performance.
