The Value of a Smile Has Interaction-Level Consequences for Social Behaviour

Abstract
Rewarding social cues elicit faster responses than do less rewarding cues. We ask whether this effect shapes the process of social interaction and affects interaction quality and liking. Data show that the value of a smile predicts the speed of smile reciprocity in a real face-to-face interaction.
