Abstract
Nine counseling psychology doctoral students/alumni were interviewed who lost their mentor/advisor while attending APA-accredited counseling psychology programs. Three participants lost their advisor/mentor to death and six participants’ advisor/mentor changed institutions. Data collection is from an empirical study and is complete. Findings illuminated important implications for faculty departures/transitions in training programs.
