Abstract
Culture can color parents’ child-rearing beliefs. Chinese parents, different from western, often view shyness as acceptable, and are more likely to interpret it positively. Current research focused on how parents’ perceptions of the different types of shyness are related to children’s characteristics. Finding suggested distinctions regarding different forms of shyness.
