Abstract

Technological advances have facilitated image-based sexual abuse by enabling covert recordings of individuals’ intimate body parts and widespread nonconsensual dissemination of sexually explicit images. This study examines whether laws addressing such behaviors reflect patriarchal attitudes and beliefs that make them ineffective. Results point to the need for further legal reform.
