Abstract
Despite their greater criterion-related validity, managers and interviewees prefer unstructured interviews to structured interviews. Across 10 focus groups, 33 novice interviewees reflected on their interview experiences. Results based on Thematic Analysis indicate that interview structure features are egocentrically interpreted by interviewees as being detrimental to their own interview success.
