Susceptibility to Fake News Is Correlated with Social Media Disorder and Depression

Abstract
103 men and women reviewed 16 Facebook screenshots of news items and were asked to identify which ones were “fake” news (as determined by snopes.com fact checkers). Susceptibility to fake news was positively correlated with social media use, social media disorder, and with depression, but negatively correlated with cognitive reflection.
