Abstract
We examined responses on an implicit measure of emotions and self-reported fear of happiness. Implicit happiness was endorsed more than other emotions overall; however, self-reported higher fear of happiness was associated with lower implicit happiness, independent of other emotions. Happiness is thus devalued implicitly by those who fear it explicitly.
