Gesture Enhances Learning Only for Those Ready to Learn

Abstract
Research shows benefits of including gesture when teaching mathematical concepts to elementary school children. We expand this research to examine effects of gestured instruction for college students learning statistics. We found that gesture significantly benefited college students but only if they had some prior knowledge of statistics.
Education
