Age Metastereotype Activation: The Influence of Age Salience, Evaluation Salience, and Age Metastereotype Consciousness

Abstract
We investigated how age salience, evaluation salience, and age metastereotype consciousness (AMC) influence the accessibility of age metastereotypes (AMA). Those lower in AMC access positive age metastereotypes, regardless of context. In age salient contexts, negative age metastereotypes are more accessible. AMC, evaluation salience, and age salience interact to predict AMA.
