Abstract
The ego-depleting effects of a modified Stroop-task were demonstrated in this two-part study. Following the Stroop-task, participants’ in study 1 showed ego-depletion as demonstrated by decrease in heart rate variability (hrv). Participants’ in study 2 reported lower levels of anticipated self-control and social-cooperation after being exposed to the Stroop-task.
