Abstract

Ambivalence is an unpleasant experience of strong opposing attitudes toward a stimulus. To reduce ambivalence, people engage in compensatory behaviors. We conducted a modified replication a study by Van Harreveld et al. (2014) exploring the effect of choice and personality trait openness on ambivalence reduction.
