When Parenthood Provides a Premium: The Effects of Parental Status and Gender on Perceptions of Pediatricians
- Kate Weseley-Jones

Abstract
This study explored the effects of a pediatrician’s gender and the age of his/her children on the motherhood penalty. While previous studies showed that working mothers are at a disadvantage in male-dominated fields, this experiment suggests that in jobs linked with communal traits, there may be a parenthood premium.
