Abstract
We experimentally examined perceived attractiveness of a hypothetical man based on his dog’s demeanor and his disciplinary style. Findings suggest that disciplinary style connotes greater attractiveness in men only when discipline is appropriate to the dog’s initial demeanor. We discuss ways that dogs more broadly bolster or challenge masculine attractiveness.
