Female Incarceration Rates and Crimes Against Women Predict Modern Slavery

We examined whether countries with increased crimes against women and female incarceration rates have higher levels of modern slavery. The best predictors of modern slavery were rape, juvenile incarceration, female homicide, and intimate partner violence rates. The results were strengthened with the gender inequality index added to our analysis.
