Using Generative Learning Strategies to Improve Student Understanding of a Multimedia Lesson

Abstract
Students viewed a multimedia presentation on greenhouse gases. At four different points in the lesson, participants were asked to generate an explanation, rewrite an explanation, view an explanation, or simply continued. Generating an explanation and rewriting an explanation benefited students more on a comprehension test than the control.
