The Influence of External Stimuli on the Generation of Random Thoughts

In a variant of the Reflexive Imagery Task, subjects were instructed to think of random words and disregard external stimuli (e.g., line drawings). Under some conditions, subjects thought of the name of the objects on roughly 20% of the trials. We examined the sense of agency associated with these thoughts.
