Abstract
A self-report survey was administered to low-income high school students (N=168) to examine barriers to college enrollment encountered during the summer after high school graduation. Analysis of students’ responses revealed four critical factors: lack of college-bound identity, financial burden, concerns around academic readiness, and alternative career choices.
