When Honesty Is Challenged: An Exploration of the Middle Eastern Bicultural Mind

This study examined the relative impact of priming religious and secular standards of honesty on students’ conduct in a society where religion is dominant. Students of Middle Eastern descent who had the opportunity to inflate their self-assessment of performance chose honesty when primed with either religious or secular reminders.
