Shame, Pride, and Social Class Hierarchy

Abstract
We examined how the target's social class shapes emotion perception (i.e., shame, pride). We test the hypothesis that observers would perceive greater shame and less pride from the facial displays of lower class targets (than from higher class targets). We test this hypothesis across three between-person experimental studies.
