Abstract
We examined the type of rationale (constraint, disparagement, or none) and anchor (precise or round) on counteroffers in a negotiation. Precise anchors lowered counteroffers related to round offers, but no difference was found between the types of rationales. However, a rationale decreased counteroffers relative to no rationale.
