Regulatory Anticipation: How We Think About the Future is Correlated With How We Actually Feel

The concept of regulatory anticipation is introduced, which reflects individual differences in anticipation of the future as guided by the Higgins’ promotion and prevention regulatory systems. Three studies are reported on regulatory anticipation’s personality correlates and its relationship to affective experience.
