Abstract
The present study examines optimism and pessimism as mediators of the association between loneliness and negative affective conditions (e.g., anxious and depressive symptoms) in 106 African American college students. Results indicate that optimism and pessimism mediate the association between loneliness and anxious symptoms, but not between loneliness and depressive symptoms.
