Abstract

The Attentional Boost Effect is the surprising finding that the presence of a target enhances perceptual capacity when attention is divided. The results from three experiments indicate the effect: still occurs when task difficulty is increased; occurs when target timing is manipulated; and it doesn’t rely on a motor response.
