Abstract
This study examined the basic psychological needs of competence, autonomy, and relatedness as potential mediators of the relationship between positive affectivity and positive adjustment (i.e., self-esteem, life satisfaction, & academic performance) in a sample of 329 Chinese adolescents. Analyses indicated competence as the only psychological need to mediate all relationships.
