Using the Student Course Engagement Questionnaire to Understand Student Engagement in Psychology Undergraduates

Abstract

Using a student engagement questionnaire, this study found that student engagement was linked to increased academic performance, varied by learning orientation and that psychology students had lower engagement levels than another programme of study. Understanding students’ perceptions of engagement allows for targeted pedagogical approaches in the classroom.
