Abstract

Across two diverse samples (total n = 768), growth mindset scores did not meaningfully predict academic achievement (directly or indirectly) or the two motivational constructs, school perseverance and behavioral engagement. However, growth mindset scores did meaningfully predict one’s belief regarding work ethic. This study has implications for growth mindset research.
