Abstract

The psychosocial implications of self-presentational variability and congruence in participants’ everyday interactions was examined. MLM results indicated that trying to be perceived more variably was associated with less satisfying social interactions and worse mood, and feeling less authentic, close, and socially at ease during interactions, particularly when congruence was low.
