Abstract

The current study investigates the development of analytic and holistic orientations among 4- to 9-year-old American and Chinese children. Specifically, this study explores when and why cultural differences between American and Chinese children emerge in the prediction of change, acceptance of contradiction, analogical reasoning and problem-solving.
