Abstract

The importance of musical practice, cognitive-motivational resources, general affect, and age for two forms of listening to music (emotional and attentive-analytical) were examined. Both listening forms were highly correlated but predicted by different variables. Moderation analyses showed stronger associations between age and attentive listening when musical practice was high.
