Boy Wonders: Schoolchildren Ascribe Effort and Achievement to Girls, but Effortless Achievement to Boys

Abstract

Two studies (total n= 295) show that children (aged 6-11 years) endorse the gender stereotype that ‘high achievement without effort = male’. Specifically, children attribute effort and achievement to girls but effortless high achievement to boys.
