Couples in Tune: Similar Music Preferences Add to Relationship Satisfaction

Abstract

Musical taste has been shown to mirror people's identity and a similar partner tends to increase relationship satisfaction. In line with these findings, we found congruence in musical tastes of 99 couples to be significantly associated with relationship satisfaction, even after controlling for similarity in personality traits and value orientations.
