Taboo Context Makes a Tumor Distracting: Emotional Distractors Influence Picture Naming

Abstract

The speed at which people named pictures that were accompanied by positive, negative, or neutral distractors depended on both the arousal of the distractors and on whether taboo distractors were included in the experimental context. These results have implications for how emotional characteristics engage attention while speaking.
