Abstract

Using data from 128 families in Cebu City, Philippines, we demonstrated that home literacy environment and school attendance facilitated the development of children’s early literacy skills at 4-7 years old, which then facilitated reading development one year later. Meanwhile, vocabulary skills were only marginally associated with home and school factors.
