Abstract
People are known to be more skeptical of scientific findings that threaten their collective identities; our two experiments demonstrate that this also holds for personal identity and is mediated by emotional reactions. Training in probabilistic reasoning made participants more skeptical overall (Study 2) but did not moderate this basic finding.
