Abstract

To understand theories of gender development, undergraduates gathered data on children's Halloween costumes, attending to age, race, and gender. Students used a spreadsheet to organize quantitative data and recorded qualitative data separately. Working in groups, students explained their findings from three theoretical perspectives and formulated empirical questions for future study.
