Abstract

We propose a mathematical model to explain the propagation of contagious laughter among audience, by considering other’s laughter as social clues of cognitive elaboration. This model fits the laughing behaviors in theater and numerically predicts emergence of laughter synchronization when laughing audience is lacking in sensitivity to actor’s input.
