Abstract

According to WAT theory, abstract concepts, due to their complexity, are processed through inner language, with the recruitment of the mouth motor system. Here, we showed that articulatory suppression slows down the processing of abstract but not concrete concepts. The latter evoke in fact, more sensorimotor compared with linguistic experience.
