Abstract

CGI visuals of bio-evolutionary objects create effects on viewers. Using fractals, Mandelbrot or Julia sets, and morphogenetic inputs, with repetitive scaling and folding, artists simulate anatomical textures of lower order phyla, especially lumbridicae. We ask whether such 'fractal art' evokes aesthetic horripilation, from pseudo-tactile responses, similar to cases in nature?
