Abstract
Self-enhancement is considered a fundamental human motive, but past cross-cultural studies suggest that this motivational drive is much weaker among Asians. The present work extends this analysis using event-related brain potentials by showing that culture also modulates neural correlates of self-enhancement, indexed by greater P200 to positive (vs. negative) self-information.
