Using a Mixed-Methods Approach to Develop and Test Scales
Including qualitative methods into quantitative scale development can enrich the final product and establish validity. Qualitative methods can lead to item generation, items revision, confirmation of item relevance and tone, item deletion or retention, confirmation of constructs measured by the scale, and identification of future research directions.
