Behavioral Avoidance and the Maintenance of Social Anxiety Disorder: Identifying Pathways Through Affect and Personality
Avoidance behaviors are central to the maintenance of social anxiety. Limited research has examined factors predicting why an individual may opt to use one avoidance behavior over the other. Results from lab and experience-sampling studies suggest that affect, personality and self-efficacy may be factors to consider when understanding behavioral choice.
