Regulating Emotions Effectively: New Approaches to Understanding Effects of Time, Person, and Development
This symposium examines important, yet frequently overlooked, factors that determine the effectiveness of attempts to regulate one's emotions in daily life, including situational context, individual differences, emotion differentiation ability, and measurement approaches. Further, we highlight developmental considerations and integrate findings into a framework for recommending optimal emotion regulation strategies.
