This symposium presents research on the role of social expectations in healthcare contexts. Using cutting edge methods spanning computer vision and machine-learning to simultaneously imaging the brains of clinicians treating patients with chronic pain, our speakers explore distinct mechanisms that underlie the powerful therapeutic effects of the patient/provider relationship.
