New Research on Regulatory Flexibility: Context, Goals, Strategies, and Trade-Offs

New research has expanded and refined conceptions of flexible self-regulation. This symposium reviews theoretical and methodological advances in four areas: Measurement of contextual appraisal, factors that influence the selection and consequences of strategy use, longitudinal consequences of flexibility across contexts, and trade-offs in the consequences of strategy use.
